Igbajo Polytechnic Mourns Loss of Oyadoyin "Lambo" at Candlelight Vigil

 Igbajo Polytechnic was enveloped in a somber yet poignant atmosphere on 12th of July 2024 as students gathered for a candlelight night in memory of Oyadoyin, fondly known as "Lambo," a vibrant HND 2 Computer Science student whose untimely passing has deeply affected the campus community.

The evening vigil, which started at Ija Oke At Igbajo became a solemn tribute to Lambo's life and impact. Attendees, clutching flickering candles, formed a circle of support and remembrance, reflecting the unity and resilience that defines the Igbajo Polytechnic spirit.

Lambo, remembered for his infectious enthusiasm and dedication to computer science. His absence has left an indelible mark on friends, classmates, and department alike, who came together to honor Lambo's memory through shared stories and heartfelt reminiscences.


"Lambo was not just a classmate; they were a beacon of positivity and kindness, He is like a blood to me, he is kind and so generous" James Chris remarked, a close friend and fellow student, as tears mingled with the candlelight.


During the vigil, heartfelt speeches echoed across the campus square, each recalling Lambo's infectious laughter and unwavering support for their peers. Department members, also deeply moved by the loss, offered words of comfort and solidarity to the grieving student body.


The Department PRO Akinola Victor expressed his deep feelings about the loss "I am deeply saddened by the loss of Lambo, because he is more like a brother to me. I did not believe when they told me Lambo died until I saw him in the coffin" 


The Igbajo polytechnic NACOSS Director of Study, Adeosun Olaniyi also share his feeling about the lost of Lambo "We started together 2019 and he is someone that doesn't keep something in his mind, If he have any issues with someone he prefer saying out his mind and once he say his mind that's all. We miss him so much."

 The NACOSS President of Igbajo Polytechnic Bolaji Abiodun Olaoluwa shared his heartfelt reminiscences "It's so painful, we lost one of our famous students, he is so cheering, caring and so nice to everyone around him and we pray that wherever he is, he will meet peace and never find difficulties in his way"

The vigil concluded with a poignant moment of silence, broken only by the gentle flicker of candles. It served as a reminder of the profound impact Lambo had on those around them and the enduring legacy he leave behind.


The candlelight vigil not only honored Lambo's life but also underscored the strength of compassion and solidarity within the Igbajo Polytechnic family. It stands as a testament to the enduring bonds forged in grief and the resilience that emerges from collective remembrance.

Department of SLT Clinches Thrilling Victory in Rector's Cup Final

The highly anticipated Rector's Cup final at Igbajo Polytechnic Igbajo drew a vibrant crowd, including several dignitaries, eager to witness the thrilling culmination of the tournament. Held on 11 July 2024 at the Institution Field, the event showcased exceptional athletic prowess and the indomitable spirit of competition among the institution's students.


The final match was a spectacle of skill and determination, with Science Laboratory Technology (SLT) department securing a decisive 2-1 victory over Computer Science Department. Goals from Chris James, and Ogunlade Barry sealed their triumph, much to the delight of their supporters.

Rector, Igbajo Polytechnic Dr. Abdulganiy Adebisi Abimbola 


Dr. Abdulganiy Adebisi Abimbola, the Rector of Igbajo Polytechnic Igbajo, expressed his excitement and pride during his speech at the event. "We are thrilled by the dedication and sportsmanship displayed by our students today. This is one of the days I always cherish, when we meet together and do things together. I am a SLT man, if I have being practicing this profession for the past 40 years, I don't think I can do away with them today. What made me so happy today is because there is no form of violence every part of the tournament was peaceful" he remarked.

He therefore appreciate all the planning committee and promise them that next year will be more elaborate than this year. Apart from the prices giving to the winners He promised to give the 3rd position #5,000, 2nd position #10,000 and the 1st position #15,000.

Dr Abimbola urge all the students to detest from any illegal activities like cultism and be of good behavior. He said students should not be scared of approaching the management if they were in need of anything. He also mention that the academic activities for this week has been suspended till next week all academic activities resume back fully on Monday.

Registrar, Igbajo Polytechnic Mrs Bukola F. Odetola


The Registrar of Igbajo Polytechnic Mrs. Bukola F. Odetola, also spoke about the significance of the activity, emphasizing its role in promoting healthy competition and harmony among students.

The Chairman of the Rector's Cup Committee, Mr. G. J Babalola shared his thoughts in an interview with reporters. "The Rector's Cup serves as a platform for our students to showcase their talents beyond academics. It encourages them to strive for excellence both on and off the field, I want to specially appreciate all our students for exhibiting a better character. Sporting activities is part of education, education is not only to read, study or write examination and that is why it's part of the school calendar to pour out fun from the students. Before next year it has been on our plan to engage our students in sport activities not alone football but other sports activities because some people have been approaching us to have a friendly match with our students and this will allow our students to be physically fit and mentally fit and by next year we are bringing more sponsors to join the management to support financially" he commented.


Celebrations continued as the Head of Department (HOD) of the victorious team's department, Mr. Olalekan Sunday Fayemi expressed immense pride in their team's achievement. "I am incredibly proud of our team's dedication and hard work throughout the tournament. They have demonstrated what can be achieved through perseverance and teamwork," he enthused.


The coach of the winning team, Sola Odewuyi, conveyed his excitement and admiration for his players' performance. "Our victory today is a testament to the players' determination and discipline. They have shown exceptional skills and sportsmanship throughout the tournament even though some people have already said we can't win this tournament but glory be to God, we work towards it, not by our power or mighty but the grace of God show them that we are not their mate" he said.


Captain Olayinka Adegbola of the winning team also shared his thoughts on the match. "We came into this match focused and determined. Each player contributed to our success, and I am honored to lift the Rector's cup with my talented team members," he remarked proudly.


Following the match, both teams received medals and prizes in recognition of their outstanding performance and sportsmanship. 

The Marathon prizes was also giving to Ojo Ahmed as the 1st position, Adebayo Adeyinka 2nd position and Alabi Samuel the 3rd position.

The ceremony concluded with jubilant celebrations among students, faculty, and supporters alike, marking another successful chapter in the history of the Rector's Cup at Igbajo polytechnic Igbajo 

The event not only celebrated athletic achievement but also reinforced the institution's commitment to holistic education and fostering a spirit of excellence among its students.

Sudden Passing of Prominent Final Year Student Leaves Department in Grief

    The department of Computer Science of Igbajo Polytechnic Igbajo is reeling from the unexpected death of a HND 2 Computer Science, Oyadoyin best known as Lambo.

   According to news reaching the BEACON NEWS UPDATE, Lambo passed away yesterday July 9th, 2024 after a brief sickness leaving behind a profound impact on both the students and the lives of those who knew him.

   In reflecting on  life, it is evident that his impact extended far beyond his immediate circle. His legacy of his love for Igbajo Polytechnic Igbajo especially the department of Computer Science will continue to resonate. 

   As friends and family gather to mourn his loss, they find solace in remembering Oyadoyin.

   Though gone, Lambo memory will endure as a testament to a life lived with  compassionate.

70 Percent Attendance Is Compulsory For All Students - IGBAJO POLY MANAGEMENT

  Igbajo polytechnic an accredited institution by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and also the first community polytechnic in Nigeria resume to her second semester academic session.

   Sequel to the reports reaching the institution management, that some students of the Institution have the habit of not resuming on time for academic activities, the management of the institution come to conclusion during the meeting held on Monday 3rd of June, to enforced  70percent attendance to all students and any students that refuses to get the required attendance will not be acknowledged in the examination hall for the semester.

In a memo pasted around the school notice board, The Registrar of the Institution Bukola F. Odetola (Mrs) also inform the lecturers to take the attendance in their consistent classes and it should be submitted to the HODs on weekly basis, all HODs are also advised to submit to their various faculty Deans and the Deans should submit it to the office of the Deputy Rector.

 Odetola urge the students to make sure they attend classes in other to avoid stories that touches the heart during the semester examination as the rule will be strictly followed.

  She also noted that students shall be given a minimum of 3 continuous assessment tests within a semester, which shall be staggered.

 She continued by informing the lecturers that students do report them to the school authority for redress.

 Students are also encouraged to optimize the use of the digital suggestion box available on the Institution website 

 Deans, Directors and HODs are also enjoined to be alive to their administrative responsibilities.
